Before Ryan and Dave met and Good Touch Bad Touch was born there was Ryan’s St. Francis Arms and Dave’s Artificial Sweeteners projects. We’ve had a long history of working with these guys as VGR has been involved in the release of both of those projects’ debuts. It only seems right that we pulled out the contract with the fine print and insisted that Good Touch Bad Touch get involved with Van Gogh Round.
It’s fractured pop for adults. Here’s what the band has to say for themselves:
The band was formed when two of their former collaborators quit and the remaining three members decided to drink themselves to death while gathering weekly to cover “Pinkerton” and “The Kinks are the Village Green Preservation Society”.
But my goodness, things have changed since then. The addition of a long-sought fourth member augmented both their live sound and their collective bar tab. In the face of mounting expenses, it was decided that the band should become a commercial venture. T-shirt designs were discussed, photographs posed for, as the band set out to brand themselves effectively. Now, the record that is the final product of this fiscal strategy is finally complete. Sorry, I blacked out for a second there. Happens. Things are getting fuzzy, so I’ll just paste on the last paragraph of the old bio for closure:
“Their live shows have acquired a near-legendary status, as their carefully calibrated audience-baiting and verbatim recreations of hoary Catskills comedy routines involving existential despair and ventriloquism grow ever more finely honed. So sit back. Have ten or twelve beers. Take a listen.”
I couldn’t have said it better myself.
